He is set to direct the feature adaptation of Chris Stewart’s travel book Driving Over Lemons, which will be a UK-Spanish co-production.

West Is West director Andy De Emmony is set to direct an adaptation of Chris Stewart’s international best-selling travel book Driving Over Lemons.

Based around short lived Genesis drummer Chris Stewart and his wife’s adventures in doing up a farm in the remote foothills of the Sierra Nevada, the script is being adapted by UK screenwriter Lucy Shuttleworth, whose credits include The Secret of Moonacre.

The film will be a Spanish/UK co-production between Seville based Jaleo Films (producer: Alvaro Alonzo) and London based Whistling Thorn Films. Alvaro Alonzo will produce for Jaleo, with Lou Spain and Stephen Marsh producing for Whistling Thorn.

Principle photography is due to start in the summer of 2011.

De Emmony’s sequel to East Is East,West Is West, is about to have its world premiere in Toronto.
