This is all really nothing but a game. The media is based in London and distributors essentially buy reviews.
Open a film on just one screen - four-wall the cinema if you have to, take out some advertisements, bill all the costs to the filmmaker, and, Hey Presto, the film is one of this week's 'new releases'.

Some lazy London-based journo's then write reviews, which avoid saying that the film is not coming to a cinema near you because it's owned by the Yanks and they only screen the films they own. And, hopefully, the distributor has a quote or two for the DVD cover.

Make a film in, say, the North West, put it on to enthusiastic audiences and London will ignore it.

Isn't it time we recognised this farce for what it is?
