Marketing executive Richard Matson has joined San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York-based distributor Anywhere Road as vice president and head of distribution and marketing.

Anywhere Road's 2009 release slate includes the drama Sinner starring Nick Chinlund as priest who faces a crisis of faith when a fundamentalist junior colleague clashes with a prostitute, and the documentary Witch Hunt narrated by Sean Penn about families whose lives have been destroyed by child abuse allegations.

The roster features the romantic comedy Kissing Cousins about a conniving bachelor starring Jaleel White and the Iraq War documentary Land Of Confusion, which follows a Pennsylvania National Guard unit on active duty.

Matson, who most previously served as president of New York-based-based distributor Matson Films and released the 2004 Toronto Citi Award winner It's All Gone Pete Tong, will integrate traditional distribution elements with cutting edge digital delivery, grassroots strategy and live events.

'Richard will be a vital member of our team as Anywhere Road continues to grow and we prepare our slate of films for the coming year,' Anywhere Road president Robert Ogden Barnum said. 'His expertise in alternative marketing techniques will be instrumental in helping to expand the company's distribution pipeline.'

'Anywhere Road stands apart by combining the working elements of traditional distribution with a unique understanding of the exploding landscape of outlets, partnerships, marketing devices and media technology,' Matson said. 'I look forward to working with Robert on a distribution model that fully exploits the potential of each film on the company's slate.'

Prior to starting Matson Films, Matson founded the online distributor Transmission Films. He has served as Matson has served as president of production and distribution for Palisades Pictures.

Anywhere Road was formed in 2007 by Barnum, Kaiser Wahab and Sriram Das. Its credits include the 2007 Sundance documentary A Very British Gangster and the family drama Black Irish starring Brendon Gleeson.
