Right Angle Studios has launched its production arm Right Angle Pictures, which will focus on socially relevant projects and kicks off with the thriller Sequence.

Ron Vignone wrote and will direct and the project is being fast-tracked for production in 2009 and follows a genetic researcher who discovers a giant conspiracy.

Right Angle Pictures CEO Jon Fitzgerald also has set up the comedy Criminal Procedure with Tom Pollock and Ivan Reitman's Montecito Picture Company and DreamWorks. The project is out to talent and the producers are keeping plot points under wraps.

The roster includes The Last Gasp, based on a screenplay by Trevor Sands about a team of environmental researchers who try to prevent earth's imminent collapse.

Documentary The Back Nine is currently in production and follows a 40-year-old man who embarks on a quest to become a professional golfer.

Fitzgerald will primarily develop properties for emerging film-makers to produce with independent and studio partners.

'Right Angle has always supported emerging talent and the growth of film festivals as a platform of exhibition,' Fitzgerald said. 'We now look forward to being involved earlier in the process, throughout the creative stages of development and production.'

Right Angle Studios recently secured financial investment from board members Craig Hagelin and Steven Soderbergh.
