The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is joining forces with New York’s popular Rooftop Films to present two IFFR 2009 selections in Rooftop’s Summer Series.

Indonesia filmmaker Edwin’s Blind Pig Who Wants To Fly, a playful and bizarre drama about cultural identity, will screen July 17 and Mexican director Eugenio Polgovsky’s Los herederos, a documentary about child labour, will screen July 18.

The filmmakers will attend the Rooftop screenings along with IFFR director Rutger Wolfson.

Both films were also supported by Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund. These summer screenings are intended to raise their profile in the US.

The 13th Rooftop Films 2009 Summer Series runs every weekend from May 15-September 20, screening in non-traditional venues and outdoor spaces.
