UK-based sales company Salt has taken on world rights outside the UK and Canada to feature documentary The People Vs. George Lucas by Alexandre O. Philippe.

The film, which premiered at SXSW and showed this week in Edinburgh, will also play at Silverdocs, LAFF and Munich, as well as screening for buyers at next week’s London UK Film Focus. The project is about the love-hate relationship fans have with George Lucas.

Interviewees, in addition to rabid fans, include Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz, Neil Gaiman and Darth Vader actor Dave Prowse.

Salt’s managing director Samantha Horley, “As a huge Star Wars fan myself I loved this film so I know there’s a clear audience out there for this. We plan to find them. Through social media and online and digital marketing and outreach ideas, it should be possible to tangibly demonstrate the value of a film to buyers, who the market is and where to find them. It’s the future of film sales and it’s our responsibility to begin engaging with the audience earlier.”

Producers are Vanessa Philippe, Robert Muratore, Kerry Deignan, and Anna Higgs.

Philippe previously directed Chick Flick and Earthlings.
