The San Sebastian International Film Festival has unveiled 15 titles for its official selection at this year's 48th edition (Sept 21-30).

The line-up so far is marked by a high number of Spanish productions and co-productions, among them Karl Francis' One Of The Hollywood Ten, starring Jeff Goldblum and Greta Scacchi, which will close the section and screen out of competition.

Titles competing for the top Golden and Silver Shell awards include:

  • Kathryn Bigelow's The Weight Of Water, also screening at the Toronto Film Festival this month;
  • Elie Chouraqui's Harrison's Flowers;
  • Alex de la Iglesia's black comedy Commonwealth (La Comunidad);
  • Salvador Garcia Ruiz's The Other Side (El Otro Barrio);
  • John Irvin's boxing drama Shiner;
  • Korean newcomer Bong Joon-ho's Barking Dogs Never Bite;
  • Nicolas Klotz's Parias;
  • Esther Gronenborn's Alaska.De;
  • Francisco Lombardi's Tinta Roja;
  • Francois Ozon's Under The Sable (Sous Le Sable), also at Toronto;
  • Maria Novaro's Sin Dejar Huella;
  • La Perdicion De Los Hombres from Arturo Ripstein, who also has Such Is Life (Asi Es La Vida) in San Sebastian's Top section;
  • Junji Sakamoto's Face;
  • and Imanol Uribe's Plenilune (Plenilunio).
  • The festival also announced an addition to the Zabaltegi (Open Zone) New Directors' line-up: director Jonathan Glazer's debut effort Sexy Beast, a Spanish-UK co-production starring Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone. That film too features among Toronto's selections.
