Sean Penn and Paolo Sorerentino are collaborating on Sorentino’s English-language debut, This
Must Be The Place, which Pathé International is introducing to buyers during the market. The pair met in Cannes two years ago, when Paolo Sorrentino’s Il Divo was in competition and Sean Penn was Jury President.

“I met Paolo at Cannes in 2008. I’d seen his film Il Divo and told him to please count me among the actors
who would love to work with him. A year later, he sent this wonderful script,” Sean Penn told Screen International.

ARP and Element Pictures have come on board as co-producers with financing coming from the Irish FilmBoard and Section 481. Lucky Red and Indigo are the Italian producers. The film will be shot for 3 weeks in Dublin and the rest in the US.

Penn plays a rock star on a mission to track down his father’s executioner, an ex-Nazi war criminal hiding in the US.
