Marko Nabersnik's love story is submitted by The Slovenian Union of Film Workers to represent Slovenia as best foreign film at the next Academy Awards.

Marko Nabersnik's Rooster's Breakfast (Petelinji Zajtrk) is Slovenia's entry for the best foreign language film at the next Academy Awards.

Nabersnik's film is a rare domestic blockbuster, coming third in the Slovenian box-office charts only to Titanic and Troy.

A love story, the film revolves around a young mechanic who starts a risky love affair with the wife of the local gangster, and his boss whose love interest is pop megastar Severina (appears in a cameo). The film won five awards at the national Slovene Film Festival in Portoroz, including best film, best director and best screenplay.

The Slovenian Union of Film Workers chose Rooster's Breakfast from a shortlist of five candidates: Maja Weiss's Installation Of Love (Instalacija Ljubezni), Hanna A.W. Slak's Teah (Tea), Janja Glogovac's L... Like Love (L... Kot Ljubezen) and Metod Pevec's Estrellita.
