Fox's Sean Connery-starrer The League Of Extraodinary Gentlemen did extraodinarily well in its opening weekend in Spain, its first major European territory. The success could bode well for future openings on the continent, which continue with a 95 print launch in The Netherlands this weekend.

Pirates Of The Caribbean held steady in its fourth weekend and has now built a cumulative gross of Euro 16.5m, making it the year's third highest grosser in Spain after local hit Mortadelo & Filemon, The Big Adventure (Euro 21.5m) and Bruce Almighty (Euro 17.2m).

Meanwhile, new Spanish release Two Tough Guys (Dos Tipos Duros), the public's prize-winner at May's Malaga festival, opened to solid business in 8th position on just 100 prints.
