New Barcelona-basedproduction outfit Arcadia Pictures, in the market with the recently-completedEuros 3 million The Birthday, hasannounced two new English-language pictures to shoot in 2005 and 2006.

Following the business modelperfected by Dolores Pictures, producers of Luna's Stranded and Whore!,Arcadia plans to finance the two new projects through pre-sales atinternational markets. The Birthday,a tribute to John Hughes movies set in Baltimore but shot on a Barcelonasoundstage by first-timer Eugenio Mira, stars Corey Feldman and Erica Prior.Unusually, it is shot in real-time.

Arcadia, formerly InfinityFilms which produced Machin and Chile's Subterra,will focus on young Spanish directing talent to make English-language filmswith appeal to the international marketplace. It is headed by Ibon Cormenzanaand Angel Durandez.
