Walden Media, Cary Granat's production company which is owned and backed by The Anschutz Company, has cast Joan Plowright and Jim Caviezel in I Am David, its film of the classic Anne Holm novel which has begun shooting in Bulgaria.

The story of an 11 year-old boy's escape and journey across post-World War II Europe, I Am David fits neatly with Walden's mission to provide educational entertainment with multimedia applications. Walden is already in production on James Cameron's epic 3-D documentary adventure Ghosts Of The Abyss and an adaptation of Louis Sachar's novel Holes starring Sigourney Weaver and Jon Voight and has teamed up with Paramount Pictures to handle domestic distribution on Around The World In 80 Days to star Jackie Chan. In addition, Walden is working on the first live-action adaptations of CS Lewis' book series The Chronicles Of Narnia. Summit Entertainment handles all Walden product including I Am David.

Ben Tibber, who starred as Tiny Tim in the hit UK TV version of A Christmas Carol opposite Warren Mitchell and Ross Kemp, plays the boy in the film which is being produced by Clive Parsons and Davina Belling of Film & General Productions and Lauren Levine. Walden's vice president of production Perry Moore is overseeing the project for Walden.

Caviezel's recent credits include The Count Of Monte Cristo, Angel Eyes and Madison, while Plowright's recent credits include George And The Dragon and Callas Forever.
