Strand Releasing has acquired all US rights from UGC International to Claude Miller's A Secret starring Cecile De France, Patrick Bruel, Ludivine Sagnier, Julie Depardieu and Mathieu Amalric.

The film screened recently in the Rendez-Vous With French Cinema series at New York's Lincoln Center and is based on Philippe Grimbert's novel about a dark family secret that unravels against the backdrop of the Nazi occupation of France.

Strand Releasing's co-president Jon Gerrans brokered the deal with UGC International. The companies last worked together on Andre Techine's AIDS drama The Witnesses.

'Rendez-Vous with French Cinema provided us an opportunity to see the film perform with a US audience and we're thrilled to be able to use that as a gauge,' Strand co-president Marcus Hu said.
