Summit Entertainment has appointed David C Friedman executive vice president and general counsel and named Andrew Matosich executive vice president of business affairs.

Friedman most recently served as executive vice president, corporate transactions and deputy general counsel for Paramount Pictures and offers a broad range of experience in film financing, acquisitions, and licensing. He joined as vice president and associate counsel in 1995.

Prior to Paramount, Friedman was a partner with law firm Sinclair, Tenenbaum, Olesiuk & Emanuel, and previously served as vice president and corporate counsel at Nelson Entertainment.

Matosich previously handled Summit Entertainment's legal and business affairs as executive vice president and general counsel, and chose to move into his new role when the company's expansion required a separation of functions.

He joined Summit in 1995 after working as an associate with Bryan Cave in Santa Monica involved in securities litigation and licensing transactions, and with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, where he continued his work in securities litigation while developing an entertainment practice.

'David is a great addition to our senior management team, especially given his depth of studio and industry experience,' Summit Entertainment chief operating officer Bob Hayward, to whom both executives will report, said.

'Separately Andrew has proved his worth with the 12 years of great service to Summit. David and Andrew make a great team with a good blend of industry respect, experience and commercial acumen.'
