Sweet Sixteen and Late Night Shopping dominate the nominations for the 2002 BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards.
Held every two years to reward emerging talent on both sides of the camera, the awards have previously provided early recognition for director Lynne Ramsay and digital pioneer May Miles Thomas.
This year, newcomer Martin Compston competes with his Sweet Sixteen co-star William Ruane for Best Film Actor whilst Sweet Sixteen's Anne Marie Fulton is joined by Morvern Callar's Kathleen McDermott in the Best Film Actress category.
Late Night Shopping has secured nominations for production designer Mike Gunn in the craft category, Saul Metzstein for Best Director and for Best Film in which it faces competition from Gas Attack, winner of the Michael Powell Award for Best British Film at the 2001 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
The Magdelene Sisters producer Frances Higson is nominated in the category for Best Documentary with Rogues, Rascals & Runaways, her portrait of Scotland's horse-drawn travellers. The winners are announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on November 24.
