Herbert Kloiber's Tele Muenchen Group (TMG) has launched its own as-yet-unnamed international sales arm with the TV two-parter The Sea Wolf based on the classic Jack London novel as its first title.

The position of Head of International Sales at the new venture has been taken by Carlos Hertel who had previously been an international sales manager at Telepool. 'I am happy to kick-off my new mission at TMG with this star-studded event miniseries that will be an outstanding feast for TV broadcasters and DVD,' Hertel said.

During this week's MIP-TV market, TMG announced that UK actor Tim Roth and Canada's Neve Campbell have joined The Lives Of Others lead actor Sebastian Koch in the principal cast of the $19m mini-series which is being directed by Mike Barker (A Good Woman) from a screenplay by Nigel Williams at locations in Canada. Delivery is scheduled for autumn 2008. TMG has had a long-lasting connection with the work of Jack London: in 1971, the company made its first Jack London adaptation of The Sea Wolf for ZDF that becamean immediate classic in German TV history and was followed by a number of other adaptions for ZDF, including Lure of Gold. In addition, TMG controlled the worldwide copyright of Jack London's literary work for the screen prior to it becoming public domain.
