Production is underway in the UK on The Inbetweeners 3 for Netflix.
Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas are reprising their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper, in the comedy about four socially awkward friends.
Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, creators of the Channel 4 sitcom, are writing and directing the film. It is produced by Claire Jones with Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Production’s Mark Lesbirel.
Executive producers are Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan, Farhana Bhula for Film4, Morris and Beesley. The film is made with Film4’s support.
“It’s been super-fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans,” said a statement from Beesley and Morris.
The original The Inbetweeners sitcom was broadcast on Channel 4 between 2008 and 2010, following the four friends navigating school life, friendship and failed sexual encounters.
It was followed by two Film4-backed features in 2011 and 2014, both of which were hits in the UK and Ireland, grossing £45m and £33.4m respectively.
