Comic book adaptation Captain Thunder, Dreiviertelmond and Les Bien-Aimés are among the productions which are shooting across Europe at the moment.

Since July Antonio Hernández has been busy shooting his current film Captain Thunder, which is based on the eponymous comic book series about a 12th century knight who travels the world fighting injustices, accompanied by his friends. The action adventure is being produced by Maltes Productions and Sorolla Films with Pau Vergara and Javier Salmonesas producers. Antonio Mansilla adapted the series for screen. Sergio Peris-Mencheta (Resident Evil: Afterlife) has taken on the lead role as Captain Thunder, with Adrian Lamana starring as Crispin and Manuel Martinez as Goliath. Shooting currently takes place in Ciudad De La Luz, Spain. 6 Sales is selling the adventure internationally and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Internationalhas been appointed to distribute domestically.

Dreiviertelmond tells the story of a bad-tempered pensioner, who sees his life go down the drain when his wife leaves him for another man. He feels obliged to take care of the daughter of a Turkish immigrant after having an argument with her mother earlier in a taxi. Christian Zübert is directing Elmar Wepper and Mercan-Fatima Türköglu as the pensioner and young girl in this co-production by die film gmbh, Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) and ARTE. Shooting has started on October 12 and will continue until November 22 in Nuremberg, Fürth and Istanbul, with Majestic-Filmverleih releasing the film in Germany on October 13, 2011.

Ludivine Sagnier, Catherine Deneuve, Louis Garrel and Chiara Mastroianni will star in Les Bien-Aimés, a film that takes place over two time periods: the 1960s and 1990s. A woman visits her boyfriend in Prague but is forced to leave when the Russian tanks arrive. In the second story, thirty years later, her daughter falls in love with a man in London, who feels unable to return her affection. Shooting commenced on Monday (October 18) with Christophe Honoré directing from his own screenplay. This is Honoré’s 8th feature.Why Not Productions is producing Les Bien-Aimés. Le Pacte will distribute in France and is selling the film internationally.
