Sebastian Hoffman to co-curate focus on new wave in Mexican Cinema; partnership with Sheffield Doc/Fest strengthened.

The East End Film Festival (EEFF) has announced its dates for the 13th edition of the festival, which will run from June 13-25, 2014, for 13 days.

“There’s a recurring theme of the number 13 with next years festival which I’m expecting in this case will prove lucky for us,” said EEFF’s director Alison Poltock.

“Standing up against massive events like the World Cup, I’m determined to make this the biggest and best ever East End Film Festival – a proper coming of age celebration as EEFF enters its teenage years.”

The festival will run directly after Sheffield Doc/Fest which closes June 12. As in previous years, both festivals will share a selection of films, and EEFF will run the East End Bar at Doc/Fest as part of a growing informal partnership between them.

Meanwhile, Mexican filmmaker Sebastian Hoffman, whose debut feature Halley won EEFF’s Best Feature award in 2013, will return as the festival’s director of residence, working alongside the EEFF programming team to co-curate a focus on the new wave in Mexican cinema.
