Fabian Castro and Talitha Watkins have joined Universal Pictures as vice-presidents of multicultural marketing.

The pair will work across all marketing divisions to enrich outreach efforts to African-American and Hispanic audiences for titles across the Universal slate.

Watkins and Castro will work directly with the publicity, field, promotions, media, digital, creative, research and partnerships divisions to customise existing and develop new strategies.

Castro will focus on the Hispanic outreach and most recently served as director of brand development for Hearst’s Food Network Magazine. Before that he spent eight years working for various Time Warner publications.

Watkins’ work is oriented toward African-American film-goers. She arrives from Telepictures Productions Inc where she served as assistant general manager responsible for overseeing operations, sales and marketing for five female-focused digital properties in the Warner Bros portfolio.
