Warner Bros' executive vice president of international Richard Fox will receive the honorary title Commander Of The Order Of Merit Of The Italian Republic at a ceremony in Rome on November 17.

Fox will receive the honour from Gianni Letta, Undersecretary Of State for the Prime Minister, during an event at the Prime Minister's offices in the historic Palazzo Chigi.

The title is bestowed by the Italian President on Italian and foreign citizens who have 'shown great merit and distinguished themselves through lasting contributions to Italian society in the fields of literature, the economy, public service, and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities.'

Among previous recipients are diplomats, academicians, senior Italian politicians, religious leaders as well as a host of luminaries from the world of cinema including Giuseppe Tornatore and Pedro Almodovar.

Fox is being honoured for 'his lifetime commitment to cultural diversity, exemplified by his achievements in the international film industry, and for his significant contribution to the development of local production in the Italian movie industry.'

Under his leadership Warner Bros has co-produced such films as Michele Placido's Romanzo Criminale and enjoyed success as local distributor on Daniele Luchetti's Mio Fratello E Figlio Unico, among others.
