New York City-based finance and production company Worldview Entertainment has come aboard the dark comedy Killer Joe.

Voltage Pictures is co-financing and handling international sales on the film starring Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch and Juno Temple.

William Friedkin is directing from Tracy Letts’ off-Broadway production about a family who hires a police detective-turned-hitman to kill their mother for her life insurance policy.

Principal photography commenced in Louisiana on November 8. Voltage’s Nicolas Chartier and Scott Einbinder are producing.

“Our goal is to produce quality entertainment with a focus on profitability,” Worldview CEO Christopher Woodrow said. “Worldview will invest strategically in film assets and consider only the most intelligent packages, applying creative and financial innovation to everything we do.”

Worldview is represented by CAA.
