May Yip has rejoined Hong Kong's Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP) as general manager for distribution.

Yip left EMP in 2003 to join Fortune Star Entertainment in which she spent the next four years heading up distribution. In her new role at EMP, she reports directly to chief executive Albert Lee.

Lee said: 'Yip is one of the most respected and sought-after distribution executives in Hong Kong. I am certain that her wealth of experience would help us in this exceptionally busy year.'

EMP has at least six projects on its slate for 2008. Leading the pack is Kung Fu Dunk, the highly-anticipated martial arts and sports drama with Jay Chou and Charlene Choi that will open on Feb 7 for the lucrative Chinese New Year period.

Run Papa Run , directed by Sylvia Chang and featuring Louis Koo and Rene Liu, is schedule for around April. Summer blockbusters include Jeff Lau's The Fantastic Water Babes, starring Gillian Chung and Alex Fong. Derek Yee's Shinjuku Incident which has a cast headed by Jackie Chan, Daniel Wu and Naoto Takenaka is due out towards year-end.

Currently in production is Chinese director Chen Kaige's Mei Lanfang which features Leon Lai in the title role of the legendary Peking opera singer and co-starring Zhang Ziyi.

'This will undoubtedly be the most hectic year in the history of EMP,' Lee added. 'We will shortly be announcing other projects to go into production.'
