Arclight Films has closed multiple territory sales on its shark thriller Bait 3D that Russell Mulcahy is set to direct in Queensland in April 2010.

President of sales and acquisitions Mark Lindsay has pre-sold rights to Paramount for Australia, Arena for Spain, Medusa for Italy, Gussi for Mexico, Paris for Brazil, and Lusomundo for Portugal.

Deals have also closed with Videovision (South Africa), Dutch Film Works (Benelux), Aqua Pinema (Turkey), Amero Mitra (Indonesia), Pioneer (Philippines), Soundspace (Thailand, India, Vietnam) and Alfa (Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay).

Lindsay also sold rights to Cine Colombia (Colombia), Delta (Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador), Ballistic (Middle East), Modus Vivendi (Eastern Europe) and Arena (former Yugoslavia).

Mulcahy, who previously directed Resident Evil: Extinction, wrote the screenplay about a pack of tiger sharks that get washed inland by a tsunami and terrorise shoppers trapped in a supermarket. With an armed maniac.

“This script is the ultimate in excitement and thrills, and it has attracted worldwide interest from distributors.” Lindsay said. “The film will appeal to audiences everywhere.”
