David Abraham will speak at the launch of the campaign, which aims to strengthen the links between education and the media industry.

David Abraham, Chief Executive of Channel 4, will speak at the launch of Skillset’s new ‘Tick’ campaign in London tomorrow (22nd).

The event, held at the Royal Society of Arts, aims to strengthen the links between education and the media industry by showcasing further and higher education courses that have been singled out as outstanding with a new Skillset ‘tick’.

The speech will be Abraham’s first in his new role at Channel 4. He will speak alongside Professor Stephen Heppell, Skillset board member, and David Sweeney of the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

British actor and director Noel Clarke has already lent his face to the campaign, starring in a short film promoting the scheme directed by award-winning Steve Barron, currently screening at the Edinburgh Festival.

Skillset Chair, Clive Jones, said: “The Skillset Tick is a kite mark of quality that serves as a clear guide to those courses and institutions that best prepare their graduates for a job in creative media. Employers and students alike will benefit from the clarity the Tick provides in signposting the UK’s centres of excellence.”

Skillset’s Film and Media Academies have been the first to receive the ‘tick’, with a 25 further courses benefitting from the accreditation in areas such as film and television production, screenwriting and editing.
