Rezo selling project, which is now shooting in New York for six weeks.

Julie Delpy has commenced shooting 2 Days In New York, her follow up to 2 Days In Paris, with Chris Rock confirmed in the co-starring role. France’s Rezo is handling sales. Delpy, who is directing, began shooting in NY in October on a six week schedule.

The director/actress will reprise her role of Marion, a Frenchwoman who now finds herself in New York with her child and a new guy, having broken up with her 2 Days In Paris lover. Chris Rock stars as the new boyfriend, a radio host and journalist whose life will be upended by a two-day visit from the protagonist’s French family.

“I’ve been a fan of Chris Rock for years and wrote the part for him,” said Delpy. “It’s an unusual process but I decided to get in touch with him before I wrote the script and made sure he would potentially be interested in doing it.  He said yes, which was wonderful news because I had him in mind for the sequel to 2 Days in Paris since early 2008. His answer was the starting point for me to  write this film.”

As first reported by Screen, Delpy is shooting from her own script which is about the difficulty of relationships but also about the main character’s evolution in general. “It’s a very modern story about the complexities of being a woman and not being completely consumed by your partner,” Delpy told Screen earlier this year.

The film once again teams Delpy with 2 Days In Paris producer Christophe Mazodier along with Scott Franklin of Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures and Delpy’s Tempete sous un crane productions, Ulf Israel and Senator and in association with CC Medien.
