Capitol Films has added Scott Hicks' The Boys Are Back In Town to its Cannes slate, which will star Clive Owen.

The Tiger Aspect Pictures/Southern Light Films co-production is made in association with BBC Films and Film Finance Corporation of Australia.

Allan Cubitt has adapted Simon Carr's memoir of the same name, about a sports writer who becomes a single parent in tragic circumstances.

The shoot is scheduled to start in January 2008.

Tiger Aspect's Greg Brenman said: 'We are delighted that Capitol is handling worldwide sales on The Boys Are Back In Town. Their relationship with the international distribution community is second to none and they have the perfect sensibility to handle this incredibly deep and powerful project and relay Scott's vision to buyers.'

Hicks' past films include Shine and Snow Falling On Cedars.

Capitol's Cannes slate also includes Don Roos' Love And Other Impossible Pursuits starring Jennifer Lopez, Joshua Marston's The Fortress Of Solitude, Sidney Lumet's Before The Devil Know You're Dead, and John Maybury's The Edge Of Love starring Kiera Knightley and Sienna Miller.
