New Zealand's South Pacific Pictures (SPP) is developing a feature based on the book by Brenda Maddox about the life of Rosalind Franklin, whose work was essential to the discovery of DNA.

The book, which is titled Rosalind Franklin, The Dark Lady of DNA, discusses how Franklin got no recognition for providing key clues that lead to the discovery, despite the rest of the team she was working with, Wilkins, Crick and Watson, receiving the Nobel Prize.

Producer John Barnett is talking to potential UK partners about the project.

SPP is the production company behind Whale Rider, which has won a string of audience awards at festivals across the globe.
