Elephant jumps on Silva’s Cats

The New York-based outfit is in Cannes with a slate led by two from Sebastian Silva, the director of The Maid.

Kim Jose and David Robinson of New York-based Elephant Eye Films are in Cannes with a prestige slate headed by the next two films from Sebastian Silva, director of acclaimed Chilean release The Maid (pictured).

Old Cats stars The Maid’s Catalina Saveendra with Alejandro Sieveking, Belgica Castro and Claudia Celedon and Elephant Eye is serving as producer and will distribute in North America.

The company is also producing Silva’s first English language project Second Child, which is out to casting and is set to begin shooting in July. Elephant Eye previously handled international sales on The Maid.

The roster includes psychological thriller The Harvest from John McNaughton, director of Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer, about a young doctor and nurse who try to adjust after their son is born with a debilitating disease.

Yelling To The Sky stars Zoe Kravitz and Gabourey Sidibe in the tale of a high school bullying victim. Sundance Lab alumnus Victoria Mahoney makes her directorial debut.

Rigoberto Perezcano’s Carmin Tropical, his follow-up to Norteaodo that Elephant Eye recently acquired, is a murder mystery set in the transvestite community in Oxaca and starts shooting in Mexico early in 2011.
