The festival, set to run in Italy from Dec 27-Jan 2, has named The Artist film of the year and will present the award to writer-director Michel Hazanavicius on Dec 30.

In addition The Artist’s Berenice Bejo is named best actress and Shame’s Michael Fassbender will take the best actor award.

Italian director Emanuele Crialese, whose latest film Terraferma is his country’s foreign language Oscar submission, will receive the best director prize.

“Capri, Hollywood has been a good luck charm for prior recipients including Melissa Leo and Forrest Whittaker, both of whom went on to win Golden Globes and Academy Awards,” festival director Pascal Vicedomini said. “We truly hope that the luck continues with these very talented artists.”
