Michel Shane and Anthony Romano's Los Angeles-based Handpicked Films has secured multi-year financing for several slates backed by New York based hedge fund Ginepri Capital Partners.

The initial Ginepri Motion Picture Slate of 11 films is valued at approximately $110m and Shane and Romano will act as executive directors and will oversee. Three more slates will be announced in due course.

Budgets will range from $5-40m and Shane is working with Ginepri Capital managing partner S K Dean on the financial structuring and evaluating distribution options.

Shane called the deal 'a great fit', adding: 'The difference between Ginepri and everyone else in this space is that this will be an actively managed programme. We will all be very hands on.'

Shane and Romano are lining up the biopic Vivaldi to star Carice Van Houten, Joseph Fiennes and Gerard Depardieu, as well as the film Buddha, based on a screenplay by David Ward for Dr Modi's, M-Global Films.
