Brooklyn Film Festival: Patchwork preview

As part of their ‘Expand Your View’ project, Brooklyn Film Festival have created an innovative festival trailer.

For their 2013 edition themed Magnetic, Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) have produced ‘Expand Your View’, a mobile app campaign aimed at driving awareness of the festival and ticket sales.

In partnership with advertising agency TBWA\Chiat\Day New York and LA-based tech company WiMO Reality, BFF compressed last year’s award-winning films into a ‘film code’ visual, made up of thousands of frames from those films. When scanning the image with a smartphone, the app sends the user to a trailer of the film and then onto the BFF website.

“This has been a collaboration of creativity, technology and great efforts from all parties involved,” commented the creative team at TBWA\Chiat\Day New York. “We tried to encourage film lovers and the community to see films through a different lens, the way the Festival itself is meant to.

“The interactivity of the campaign drives engagement with the Festival, its winners from last year and an understanding of what it is about, in an intriguing and relevant way.”

BFF runs May 31-June 9 with the lineup set to be announced in May.
