IMAX Corp. and Kyiv-based media company Triumph have added a third cinema to its giant-screen roll-out in the Ukraine.

Triumph's exhibition arm, Kinokompaniya Triumf, will now have theatres in Kiev, Odessa and Kharkov. The Kiev site was installed last month, while the Odessa site is expected to be operational by 2010 with Kharkov to follow in 2011. IMAX now has 13 systems scheduled to be in business in Russia and the CIS.

In a statement, Triumph general director Andriy Shpyg said the Kiev facility is already delivering impressive results, selling 17,000 premium-priced tickets in its first 20 days. The Kiev projection system was upgraded to digital as part of the new agreement.

'The elimination of film prints and the reduced start up capital required for IMAX's digital projection system makes the IMAX business even more attractive as we work towards expanding our IMAX and multiplex network in the Ukraine,' said Shpyg.
