London-based Lumina Films has sold German-speaking rights to Olly Blackburn's British thriller Donkey Punch to Universum Film.

The film, produced by Warp X, is now in post-production and is scheduled for a summer 2008 release in the UK by Optimum Releasing.

Produced by Angus Lamont, Mark Herbert and Robin Gutch, the film is about the freak death of a partygoer on a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean and the conflict that arises among the surviving passengers.

The cast includes Jaime Winstone, Tom Burke, Nichola Burley, Julian Morris and newcomers Robert Boulter, Jay Taylor and Sian Breckin. Blackburn wrote the script with David Bloom; Blackburn makes his directorial debut on the film.

Warp X is a joint initiative of the UK Film Council, Film4, Screen Yorkshire, EM Media and Optimum Releasing.

The German deal was negotiated on behalf of Universum by Rudy Tjio and Walter Rehm and by Samantha Horley for Lumina. Horley will be screening footage of the film to buyers at Toronto.
