Hong Kong-based Golden Network Asia has sold the comic Thai martial arts animation Duck Fight to three territories - Global Motion Picture's Luxor brand for Eastern Europe including Russia, Golden Films for Brazil, and Gulf Film for the Middle East.

Billed 'the ultimate under-duck movie,' the animated film is set during a time when the world is in the grips of bird flu and cock-fighting is suffering.

The Crazy Hero duck disguises himself to enter martial arts competitions and encounters other birds dressed at roosters on the way as well.

'The film is still in pre-production, no trailer, but buyers have been excited by the materials showing the high-concept animated film,' says Carrie Wong, managing director at Golden Network.

Duck Fight is directed by Pornchai Hongrattanaporn, a.k.a. Mr. Pink, whose background in TV commercials led to first feature Bangkok Loco, which was in the Toronto Midnight Madness section.

The film is produced by Pantham Thongsang who previously worked with Apichatpong Weerasethakul on his Cannes award-winning Tropical Malady.

Pre-sold Hong Kong to Celestial Pictures at this past AFM, the film is set for delivery around Christmas 2008. Sequel plans are already in the works.
