California based Media 8 Entertainment has picked up worldwide sales rights to Jackboots on Whitehall, an animated feature from British brothers Edward and Rory McHenry.

The pair jointly wrote and are directing the film which features the voices of Ewan McGregor, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Spall and Rosamund Pike.

The action-filled tale of heroism and romance is set during an alternative history of WWII. It follows a group of villagers led by Chris (Ewan McGregor), a young farmhand, and his sweetheart Daisy (Rosamund Pike) as they fight against the Nazi invasion of England and rescue Churchill (Timothy Spall) from capture.

The film will feature pioneering techniques in animation including puppeteering animatronics and a specially-created technique for so-called “2 ½ D” CGI artistry.

Financing has been secured through a combination of private equity and international co-production funds, including Matador (UK), MIG (Belgium) and Arcadia (Spain).

Patrick Scoffin of McHenry Bros. Productions and Karl Richards of UK’s Entertainment Motion Pictures are producing.

Mike Connor (Harry Potter,Batman and James Bond franchise) of Motion Control Cameras, will serve as lighting cameraman and music will be composed by Guy Michelmore, who scored the animated features for Marvel Studios. BAFTA-nominated sound designer Jimmy Boyle is also attached.

Principal Photography is set to start in July at 3 Mills Studio in London for an 8 week shoot.
