Clover sells Boys To Men to Star Chinese Movies

The film is currently Singapore’s number two all-time hit with $4.62m (S$5.65m) at the box office and is on course to beat the all-time hit Money No Enough – also directed by Neo – which took $4.93m (S$6.02m).

The deal with Star Chinese Movies, announced at the on-going ScreenSingapore conference, also includes the sequel to the film.

Clover’s Lim Teck negotiated the deal with Cora Yim and Janice Kuo of Star Chinese Movies. The territories covered include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Philippines and Taiwan.

“We are so happy to close this deal with SCM, even happier that we managed to pre-sell the second part even before it is released in cinemas. This shows the growing popularity of Director Jack and Singapore movies,” said Clover Films managing director Lim Teck.

Ah Boys To Men is a comedy that revolves around a group of men recruited to the National Service of Singapore.

The sequel Ah Boys To Men II was presented yesterday in a showcase held by Singapore’s Media Development Authority (MDA) at ScreenSingapore. The showcase featured nine of the upcoming 2013 films including Gilbert Chan’s Ghost Child and Kelvin Sng’s Taxi! Taxi!
