The South Korean sales company will be screening a promo reel at the upcoming European Film Market.

South Korean company Finecut is handling international sales on Hong Sang-soo’s new film In Another Country, starring the award-winning actress Isabelle Huppert. The film was shot in summer last year and is now in post-production. The company will be screening a promo reel of the auteur director’s 13th feature at the upcoming European Film Market.

In the film, there are three women named Anne who each consecutively visit a seaside town. They each stay at the same small hotel by the shore and venture onto the beach where each of the Annes meet a group of the same people including a certain lifeguard who restlessly wanders up and down the beach. Huppert plays all three of these different Annes and aside from her, the rest of the cast is all Korean, although the film was mostly shot in the English language.

Huppert said of her collaboration with Hong, “Working with Hong Sang-soo was one of the most unexpected and original experiences of my career. A deeply enriching creative adventure that I will keep in my heart. I’m longing to see the result.”

”She is a brilliant actress. I like her very much as an actress,” said Hong, adding about the film: “In another country, a woman or another woman is, was, will be, encountering the same places and the same people for no other reason than her being in another country.”

Hong won the Un Certain Regard Prize with Hahaha at Cannes 2010, and the same year, his next film Oki’s Movie premiered in Venice. His last film The Day He Arrives was also in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard last year.
