Finecut adds Grand Heist, Ghost Sweepers to Berlin slate
Seoul-based sales company Finecut has picked up two new Korean genre films – $10m period action adventure The Grand Heist, and $5m comic action horror Ghost Sweepers.
The Grand Heist, about a group of specialists wiping out an ice storehouse during the Chosun dynasty, features an ensemble cast headed by Cha Tae-hyun, and Oh Ji-ho. Cha is one of Korea’s most bankable actors due to hits such as Hello Ghost and Scandal Makers, while Oh starred in recent action hit Sector 7.
Ghost Sweepers is directed by Shin Jung-won, whose credits include creature feature Chaw, which Finecut also handled. Also combining situation comedy and genre elements, Ghost Sweepers follows a group of top exorcists who join forces to eradicate a notorious evil spirit.
Both currently in production, The Grand Heist and Ghost Sweepers are financed and will be widely released by Korean distributor N.E.W (Next Entertainment World).
Finecut is also selling two completed films – legal drama Unbowed, which scored more than two million admissions over the recent Lunar New Year holidays in Korea, and quirky romantic comedy Love Fiction, starring Ha Jung-woo and Kong Hyo-jin.
The Korean sales outfit is also handling the latest film from auteur Hong Sang-soo, In Another Country, a mostly English-language production starring Isabelle Huppert.
