Three films featuring work from Double Negative have been nominated for a 2011 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Inception, Iron Man 2 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.

Double Negative was the main vendor contributing 500 shots to Christopher Nolan’s science fiction Inception. VFX Supervisor and founding member of Double Negative, Paul Franklin, were nominated along with SFX Supervisor, Chris Corbould, and DNeg’s VFX Supervisors, Peter Bebb and Andrew Lockley.

Iron Man 2 was also nominated for the award, with nominees including DNeg’s VFX Supervisor on the film, Ged Wright, along with the film’s overall VFX Supervisor, Janek Sirrs. DNeg contributed around 250 shots including 22 digital cars.

The facility’s work for Deathly Hallows Part 1  included the corroding Warner Brothers logo and extensive environment extensions of the Burrows and its surrounds.

Double Negative MD, Alex Hope said: “This is amazing news for all those nominated and all the DNeg teams who put their heart and souls into every film we work on. We’re tremendously honored to be included and wish the best of luck to all the nominees.”

The team is currently working Deathly Hallows Part 2.
