Richard Gabai’s new distributorwill release Dean Pollack’s Audrey in theatres in September.

The female-driven comedy stars Sybil Temtchine, who produced with Pollack. The story was shot in real time as a woman waits in a restaurant for her date to arrive.

The filmmakers raised two-thirds of the budget by appealing to women’s groups like Janet Hanson’s 85 Broads, a global network of 30,000 women.

Audrey went through the Film Independent’s Producer’s Lab and received The Panavision New Filmmaker’s Grant. Ruth Vitale and Effie T Brown came on board as executive producers.

Check’s first release was the 2011 psychological crime thriller InSight.
