Pathe Distribution has acquired the library of defunct UK distributor UGC FIlms, including Walter Becker's Good Bye Lenin! and Francois Ozon films, including 8 Women and Swimming Pool.

UGC Films UK was launched by French company UGC in 2001 and was hailedat the time as a big boost for arthouse cinema, in what was thenconsidered a notoriously difficult market. It closed in 2005.

'We have a longstanding relationship with UGC and we are delighted to strengthen that relationship through this acquisition, ensuring the continued exploitation of their library of high quality foreign-language films in the UK,' said Francois Ivernel, MD Pathe Entertainment.

Pathe Distribution Ltd is one of the leading independent film distribution companies in the UK, responsible for the theatrical release of approximately 20 movies each year and catalogue rights to 300 films.
