SlidingDoors'director Peter Howitt started shooting his latest production on Oct 3.

Howitt wrote, directs and stars in the film, anadaptation of Stuart Browne's 1999 cult novel Dangerous Parking.

Richard Johns produces under Howitt and Johns'production outfit Flaming Pie Films.

Howitt and Johns raised the finance for the filmindependently, from private investors, including executive producer Hani Farsi.The remainder will be donated by companies, individuals and crew, who will receiveshares of sales.

The film is about a filmmaker and former alcoholicwho is diagnosed with cancer.

Says Howiit: "DangerousParking is a rebel yell from deep within the soul of a man, told in extremeTechnicolor, and at breakneck, breath-taking speed, just like his highlycinematic life. It is in turns tragic, brutal, sad, hopeful, hopeless, romanticand painfully funny."

Originally a television and stage actor, Howitt hasmade cameo appearances in all four of the films he has directed (Sliding Doors, Antitrust, Johnny Englishand Laws of Attraction). This is hisfirst starring role since becoming a director.

Other actors to appear in Dangerous Parking are Saffron Burrows, Sean Pertwee, RachaelStirling, Alice Evans, Tom Conti and Dervla Kirwan.

Sales for the film are being handled by Simon Croweof the recently established Velvet Octopus. Crowe was formerly head of sales atboth Capitol and Icon.
