MGM has acquired Jay Scherick and David Ronn's comedy spec script The Zookeeper with Walt Becker attached to direct.
Becker directed the 2007 comedy hit Wild Hogs as well as the upcoming comedy Old Dogs and will produce The Zookeeper with Jennifer Eatz for The Walt Becker Company. The story tracks a lonely zookeeper who learns how to get the girl with a little help from the animals.
Todd Garner, who will also produce through his Broken Road Productions, came up with the original idea and approached Becker to come on board.
Executive vice president of production Cale Boyter and vice president of production Becky Sloviter will oversee for MGM.
Becker is represented by CAA, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Warren Dern of Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.
