Scandinavian producer Joni Sighvatsson is packaging an English-language remake of the acclaimed 2004 Danish film Aftermath to be directed by Vadim Perelman.

Perelman will begin adapting the screenplay after he completes post-production on In Bloom starring Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood for 2929 Productions.

Aftermath (Lad De Sma Born) charts a young couple's emotional breakdown after their child is killed by a drunk driver.

'It's a delicate balance of drama and isn't just a story about the couple but a story about all the people involved in the incident, which makes it very complex,' Sighvatsson said.

Sighvatsson, who packaged the recently announced remake of Susanne Bier's 2004 Danish hit Brothers (Brodre) that Jim Sheridan will direct, said he expected Aftermath to have a similar sensibility and positioning as Perelman's 2003 Oscar nominated House Of Sand And Fog.

Los Angeles-based Sighvatsson owns Scandinavian distributor Scanbox and his producing credits include Wild At Heart, Basquiat and Kalifornia.
