Rezo Films has acquired French rights from Sony Pictures Releasing
International (SPRI) to the Japanese anime title Tekkonkinkreet, which
received its world premiere in Berlin's Generation 14Plus strand.

Rezo has set an April 25 theatrical release date for the Studio 4°C and
Aniplex co-production, which will be renamed Amer Beton for the French
market.

Tekkonkinkreet is the first anime feature to be directed by a Western
director, Michael Arias.

The action is based on Taiyou Matsumoto's Manga comic strip about two street urchins who protect a fictitious city against Yakuza gangsters and alien assassins. Anthony Weintraub adapted the screenplay

The acquisition was announced by SPRI executive vice president of marketing Sal Ladestro and Rezo Films chief Laurent Danielou.
