Venice Critics’ Week has added its seventh competition title, Trap Street (Shuiyin Jie) by Chinese director Vivian Qu.

The film’s world premiere is scheduled for Sept 1. The story is about a young trainee at a digital mapping company, who falls in love with a mysterious woman. In searching for her at a secret laboratory, he delves into a nightmare of of bureaucracy and state control.

Trap Street had backing from Visions Sud Est.

Lu Yulai and He Wenchao lead the cast.

Qu’s previous films as producer include Longing For The Rain and Night Train.
