Celador Films and Pathe will start principal photography on May 4 (Sunday) for The Descent 2.

The film will reunite the team from the original horror hit. Neil Marshall, who directed the original, will this time produce alongside Christian Colson of Celador. Jon Harris, who edited The Descent, will make his directorial debut.

James Watkins wrote the script, picking up when Sarah emerges from the Appalachian Mountains cavealone but is later forced to return to the depths in search of her friends.

The project will shoot for eight weeks on location in Scotland and at London's Ealing Studios.

Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Mendoza reprise their roles and the cast also features Gavan O'Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge, and Krysten Cummings.

The original film's crew including production designer Simon Bowles, DoP Sam McCurdy and composer David Julyan also reunite for the sequel.

UK-based Celador is 100% financing the project. Pathe International has world sales and Pathe Distribution will handle the UK release.
