THINKFilm International has boarded Tiger Aspect Pictures' upcoming tongue-in-cheek horror film Bad Meat and is commencing sales here in Cannes.

Rob Schmidt is attached to direct the story based on Paul Gerstenberger's screenplay about a group of teenage delinquents who get more than they bargained for when they arrive at a juvenile boot camp.

Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe is in talks to play the lead.

Tiger Aspect's Greg Brenman is producing and filming is set to begin in September in the US.

'I love this script and I intend to make it the scariest movie of my career,' said Schmidt, whose credits include Wrong Turn and the upcoming Alphabet Killer.

'It's a great 'Saturday night at the movies' movie, and with a good quotient of blood and other bodily fluids, it hits all the right horror notes.

'It is 100% pure entertainment and makes a wry comment on mass meat production, which I expect will cause more than a few conversions to vegetarianism!'

'Bad Meat is a real treat, with six great roles for hot young actors and a script that made me laugh and recoil in horror - often at the same time,' THINKFilm's head of international sales Eve Schoukroun said.
