US independent distributor TLA Releasing has acquired North American rights to Epitaph, the directorial debut of the Jung Brothers from South Korea. The deal was closed at Filmart in Hong Kong last week.

The psychological horror film is scheduled to play in New Directors/New Films in New York and the Philadelphia Film Festival next month with a release scheduled later in the year through TLA's Danger After Dark label.

TLA acquired the film from Seoul-based sales outfit STUDIO2.0. The deal was negotiated by Eun-Young Choi, head of international business for STUDIO2.0, with Jennifer Arndt-Johns, vice president of acquisitions for TLA.

The film, which won the brothers the New Director Award at the 2007 Pusan Film Critics Awards and screened at San Sebastian last year, is set in a hospital in 1942 where mysterious things start to happen.

Kim Bo Kyung, Kim Taw Woo and Jin Goo head the cast.
